Dorthone - Episode 2

A Caravan of Suspicion (Keith GM - 11/12/09)

The boat ride back into the town of Dorthone is a somber trip. The information that the orc savages were more interested in the heads of your party than the massive amounts of wealth Kalias was offering is odd. Your group has had many victories against the orcs, but no one event truly stands out. Many of your victories were very evenly fought battles, something that the orc typically appreciate, not hate.

The other thing that weighs heavily is the word of the orc captain. The word that he had information regarding a traitor, or possibly a group of traitors, within the Elven kingdom. And seeing as how the group just came face to face with an orcish death squad looking specifically for you…you are inclined to believe what he's saying.

Wrothgar, you and your soldiers sit on the deck of the boat you commandeered from Kalais's dock. With the robed avenger Madyrn in charge of the helm, you and the rest of your men stand around the noble, curious as to how a simple monetary exchange turned into a blood letting.

here were notes slipped under the doors of members of the party implicating other members
That is where Gyr was introduced, he wasn't the old man, he was the king's right hand.
we sent messangers out west to recruit help for Dorthone against the orcs, and our party provided cover/support

at first Biero was thought to be the traitor because one of the party thought they saw him making signs into the forest before it was attacked

the orcs that attacked first mentioned why there were after the Col'm Shar here, the Grom'Thrash slaughter, which no member of the Col'm Shar seems to remember.

Below are the notes the party received while staying within the castle:

Wrothgar (Jared):
“Captain, the Dorthone Security forces have been monitoring several of your men for “suspicious activity”. While this is an ongoing investigation, and we are not allowed to provide any specific details of our investigations, we wanted to bring the matter to your attention. We believe several members of your squad have defected to a traitorous organization that has been active in the city, and are plotting to overthrow the government. Please watch your back, and keep your wits about you.”

Manthwe (Gabe):
The men you serve with cannot be trusted. The Dorthone Investigation Unit has been following the activities of several of the men you fight along side, and they have been seen supplying information to both orcish hordes, as well as a traitorous organization that has taken root in the city. We believe your captain is still loyal to the King, so you may have an ally in him.

Talai (Chavo):
The men you serve with cannot be trusted. The Dorthone Investigation Unit has been following the activities of several of the men you fight along side, and they have been seen supplying information to both orcish hordes, as well as a traitorous organization that has taken root in the city. We believe your captain may be an accomplice, or even an high ranking member of the organization. Be careful.

Beiro (Rancid):
The men you serve with cannot be trusted. The Dorthone Investigation Unit has been following the activities of several of the men you fight along side, and they have been seen supplying information to both orcish hordes, as well as a traitorous organization that has taken root in the city. It is believed that your captain is responsible for slipping information to the orcs to reveal your position at Kelias's property. Until we receive more information, he is still your commanding officer, though any orders that lead to treasonous activity will be punishable by death.

Palanir (Mike):
The men you serve with cannot be trusted. The Dorthone Investigation Unit has information that they, along with your Captain, have been working secretly with a traitorous organization within the city to overthrow the King, and declare Wrothgar regeant of Dorthone. Until we get more information to arrest the Captain, he is still your commander, but know that following any orders deemed treasonous will be met with court martial.

For Calour (Gavitt):
The men you serve with cannot be trusted. The Dorthone Investigation Unit has information that Fenrir, along with the noble your division rescued, have been working with the orcs, feeding them information and plotting with them to breach the walls of Dorthone. We believe that their intentions are to overthrow the King, and declare Kelias the new Regeant of Dorthone. They may have recruited others in your party. Watch your back.

For Fenrir (Adam):
The men you serve with cannot be trusted. The Dorthone Investigation Unit has information that Calour, along with an elderly man in the outlying territories, have been working with the orcs, feeding them information and plotting with them to breach the walls of Dorthone. They may have recruited others in your party. Watch your back.
