Thomas the Decent

Half Orc Ranger - Shane in Goodspeed's Good Men

Background

Half Orc that resides in the town of Jesnic, and member of the local militia.

History

Member of the group that was volunteered by Abraham Goodspeed to embark on a quest to return Dorthone to it's former glory, offered by Edgar Lighthammer. Traveled with the group to Gribale to meet Mountainbeard, who had already left the town. Befriended several members of the city's poor by distributing supplies, much to the hatred of Abraham and Door or Window. It was realized that the group believe Thomas to have enough supplies for the group for the trip, a fact that was lost on Thomas. Attempted, and failed, to build a fire to burn down the weaponsmith's store after Abraham had his weapon stolen.

Accompanied Door or Window into Kalias's mansion in order to scout the location. Discovered the location of the control panel to access Kalias's vault, and kept an eye on the movements of Palanir while Door or Window tried to access the vault. It was here that Thomas began bickering with Abraham.

Making their way through the Dorthonian woods to the Temple of Eternal Spring Thomas and Door or Window were able to sneak into the temple while Abraham and August Justicar fought off the guards outside. hey quickly determined from the priests that Colour had been taken by a large contingent of elves, and was on his way back to Dorthone. Door or Window and Thomas quickly took off, running past their comrades, who later scooped them up in a display of amazing acrobatics onto their horses. Thomas was integral to the rescue of Colour, killing the two guards that were directly controlling the member of the Col'm Shar with two well placed arrows, allowing Door or Window a "window" of opportunity to get to Colour and remove his bonds, freeing the elf.

Proceeding back to Kalias's mansion, Thomas and Abraham's relationship boiled over thanks to a perceived slight about Abraham only being HALF elf. Thomas quickly landed Abraham on the ground, despite their leaders attempts to intimidate the half orc. Agreeing to put this fight on hold to focus on the mission at hand, Thomas left with the group to Halton, to find a halfling named Del, who was the last to see Manthwe, member of the Col'm Shar. Thomas and Abraham are able to find Del at the only non-Griswaldian tavern in the town, The Way Back Inn, who provides Thomas with a map of the location of Rellin, a town for retired adventurers.

Leaving the tavern, tempers flared again between Thomas and Goodspeed, this time leading to an all out, weapons drawn brawl. Thomas landed several good hits, severely wounding Abraham, before finally getting hit well enough to respect Abraham as a leader. He proceeds to stop the ground from approaching on Door or Window while flirting with Amber, before riding off toward Rellin with the group.

Thomas and the rest of the group come across a man being robbed bit a group of brigands on the way to Rellin. Firing a warning shot at the leader of the bandits, the arrow goes astray, planting in the leaders leg. Taking down most of the group, and scaring off the rest, the group questions the man, Jonathan, and agree to leave a trail for him to Rellin, though not to bring him with the party.

With Jonathan returns, showing himself to be Seras, Thomas assists the group and the townsfolk of Rellin in successfully fending off the attack, killing several men and stealing a poisoned longsword from the battleground.

Thomas is warned by Manthwe on the road to the Refugee Camp to stay out of sight when going to the camp, as his presence may provoke the anger of Wrothgar. Coming across a battlefield in the mountains, Thomas recognizes the dead orcs that are strewn around the ground as the Goldtooth clan, a part of the Bludchok'Hai. While approaching the Refugee Camp, Thomas tries (poorly) to hide, and is spotted by the elves, provoking a tense moment that is quickly defused thanks to Door or Window and Maewen, the elderly leader of the elves. When told that Wrothgar has been kidnapped, he agrees, along with Abraham, to try to scout out the orc's camp, to find Wrothgar and his men.

Donning the uniform of a member of the Goldtooth Clan, and using Abraham as his prisoner, he successfully sneaks into the camp, and kicks a guard into the locked Hall where Wrothgar is being kept, killing the guard. He frees Wrothgar, fills a flask with the liquid being used to keep Wrothgar incapacaited, but fails to access the chests in the hall that contain Wrothgar's goods. Uses the distraction provided by Abraham Goodspeed to escape with Wrothgar out of the camp, to his horse. He forces the flask down Wrothgar's throat, and prepares to ride off with his prize to Muscle Tower, to claim the bounty on Wrothgar himself, before being ran down by a trio of Worg Riders, lead by the Chieftain of the Goldtooth clan.

Engaging in a hard fought battle, Thomas nearly loses his life to the hands of the orcs, and faces death again thanks to their hungry worgs. Defeating the initial threat, but without a horse, Thomas desperately begins carrying Wrothgar away from the camp, as drums continue to sound…
